New Art Exchange
Nottingham
Hawkins\Brown was appointed to design the New Art Exchange building, the UK's first regional inner city arts centre devoted solely to the promotion of Black and Asian arts.
Built on the site of the existing arts centre in the heart of the Hyson Green district of Nottingham, the New Art Exchange has created employment and provided new facilities for the local community helping to regenerate one of the East Midland's most deprived areas.
The New Art Exchange has created a business, social, learning and cultural hub for the local and wider regional community.
Hawkins\Brown has worked directly with the Art Exchange resident artists on the design elements of the building to ensure an ongoing dialogue with the building's end users.
Adopting a flexible approach to design, we have conceived multi functional spaces and rooms.
The building includes 1,500 square metres of mixed-use art space including gallery, workshop and rehearsal facilities.
