Interiors
People have an outward appearance that can be very different from their internal makeup. Buildings have a similar transition when we pass over the threshold. How we experience a building can be changed, reinforced or intensified by what we find inside.
Interior design is different from architecture it's more like stage design. It can be more dramatic, less about keeping the rain out. It can communicate quicker, be wittier, more striking, transitionary and fashionable. It is less about being timeless, more about being timely.
Hawkins\Brown works with artists, poets, graphic artists, photographers and designers, to make an intuitive response to interior design that can make a biochemistry laboratory feel domestic, or a bar feel like an art gallery.
