Creative Re-use

Hawkins\Brown has always enjoyed working with existing buildings. We have long argued that a 'refurbishment option' need not be second best to a comprehensive redevelopment.

Our site experience has taught us valuable lessons; to carefully appraise a building before starting to design, trying to understand its progress through the years, what is a structure's 'spirit' or its intrinsic nature; then selecting the best uses for each existing space, sifting and refining the match between brief and capacity.

The end result can clearly express the restoration and sensitive reuse of the retained building alongside dynamic new buildings that support the old.
